At New Beginnings Family Services, we recognize that every family’s journey is unique. Whether parents are navigating separation, managing conflict, or working to establish a healthy parenting dynamic, we offer specialized services to meet those needs. While the terms co-parenting therapy, co-parenting coaching, and co-parenting counseling are sometimes used interchangeably, they differ in focus, approach, and duration, and each model serves a distinct purpose. Understanding these differences is essential to choosing the right support for your family.
Focus:
Addresses emotional challenges that impact co-parenting, such as unresolved grief, anger, trauma, or strained relationships that affect trust and communication. Co-parenting therapy is an intensive healing process that goes beyond the surface-level issues. It involves disclosure and reflection of history, dynamics, patterns, strengths, and weaknesses.
Best For:
Parents with a history of trauma, abuse, or entrenched emotional conflict.
Approach:
A diagnostic treatment approach led by a licensed therapist using evidence-based practices and interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other techniques that help parents recognize and shift negative thinking patterns.
Goal:
Address and enhance the emotional well-being of parents involved. Increase the ability to co-parent cooperatively and effectively during and after the healing process. Ultimately, creating a safe and secure environment for the children involved.
Duration:
While NBFS policy requires a minimum of 10 sessions, the actual number is indefinite and depends on the therapeutic needs, goals, willingness, and progress. Treatment plans are individually established with the therapist and generally start with a 10-12 month expected discharge date.

Children reap the benefits of their parents' participation in BeH2O®.
